Family Bike Hike Espresso Updates: Q2-2022

Family Bike Hike

As of two weeks ago, we are officially on summer break! Our kids were supposed to finish school on the 20th, but because of yet another outbreak of covid, they finished a few weeks early. You might think they’d be happy about early dismissal, but all of them were sad about the news. It’s great when your kids actually enjoy going to school!

As some of you probably read on facebook, Elijah had to have oral surgery this past week. He went in about a month ago to begin the process of getting braces and the orthodontist discovered a cyst on his X-ray. The cyst was affecting at least one of his teeth so it definitely needed to be removed. We are so thankful that the orthodontist found the cyst and then directed us to a good surgeon in Lisbon. The surgery went great and he seems to be making a good recovery.

In April, Alaithia and Michelle were able to play and sing for a Mother’s Day gathering. It was a great opportunity – and Alaithia’s first time to sing in Portuguese! It was an encouraging day for the ladies and we’re so thankful we were able to have a small part in it.

We are continuing our language studies throughout the summer. Dave is continuing to study at the university and Michelle is still with a tutor. We appreciate prayers that we will continue to be diligent in our studies and that our listening/speaking skills will keep on improving.

We are also looking to purchase another vehicle this summer. Will you please pray with us that we will be able to find one for the right price? The one car that we have right now is pretty small; we make it work, but all of us would definitely appreciate more space. Also, a second vehicle is just a smart idea as repairs can often take much longer than they normally would in the States.

Please also be in prayer about the town of Alcochete and what God would have us to do there. At this moment, we are either not able to afford the housing or there just isn’t any housing available. We know that God is able and we are confident that He will work these things out in His perfect timing.

We are at about 86% support. We are grateful for those individuals and churches who have partnered with us or increased their giving.

Thank you for praying with us about these needs!
