Alcochete, Portugal Espresso Updates: Q1-2022

Alcochete, Portugal

Greetings from sunny Portugal! That’s right, we arrived back in Portugal on January 5 and all of us are thrilled to be back at home. We spent our first few days here unpacking, grocery shopping, getting back to speaking (practicing) our Portuguese, and, of course, catching up on some sleep ????

The kids went back to school the following Monday after we arrived and it was such a joy to hear them chatting about their first day. They were all so happy to be back and it brought so much joy to our hearts to hear in their voices the love for their school. As parents it is difficult to see our children struggle through the changes of life; the christian school that we have here in Portugal is such a blessing to us. Unfortunately, Covid has caused quite a few problems and after just one full week of classes, the school had to switch to online learning because there are several covid cases. This is hopefully a temporary situation – we are hoping just one week of online learning. So far, we are covid free and we are thanking God for that. We did have the virus back in December so we are pretty sure that is working to our advantage now ????

A quick update on the insulin pump for Karis – as we mentioned before, we were donated an insulin pump for her several months ago. Thankfully we were able to get trained on the pump while in the states and she started using it in December. To our surprise, we were also graciously donated a second insulin pump – can you believe that it was the exact same type and brand as the first pump?! God has been so gracious to us. We were not only donated two working pumps but also enough supplies to last for the next year. We are thanking God for these generous gifts!

We are still looking to raise our support by about $1400/mo. Please be in prayer about this with us! We would still like to move to Alcochete soon as this will help in meeting people and developing relationships. We appreciate your prayers for wisdom and guidance in this area.

We are also looking to purchase another vehicle, preferably a larger vehicle that would provide more space for our “huge” family ???? Thank you for your prayers about this as well.
