TRANSITIONS

We’re already into the second month of our school year and it’s hard to believe that the summer flew by so fast! We enjoyed and cherished our time together as a family.

Alaithia’s Update

The summer began with Alaithia’s graduation from high school. Her high school experience was quite unique. Not only was she the only American but the rest of her classmates were Nepalese. These unique cultural experiences have influenced her in a great way and have affected her life goals. As of now, she is interested in cross-cultural counseling. She has chosen to take a gap year and is staying here in Portugal. She has been given a wonderful opportunity to work with another missionary friend at a university campus and so far she is loving this ministry. We are excited to see her engaged in her own ministry and desire to share the gospel with others.

Back to School

In September we went back to school.  It’s been a big year and an adjustment for some of our other kids. Elijah is in his senior year, Karis started high school and Zoe started middle school. Things are going well and we are once again so thankful for this christian school that God has provided for our kids. It is truly one of our greatest blessings here in Portugal and we thank God for this!

Michelle at School

Michelle has been working at the kids’ school a few days a week. It’s nice to be with our kids and also to get to know our kids’ classmates. It’s exciting in general to be around such a great group of kids and teachers and to work with people from so many different cultures! Michelle helps out as secretary, in the library and teaching music. She loves working with the kids!

David’s Preaching

David has had opportunities to preach in a local church here in Lisbon and also at a church up north. It’s always encouraging to be able to use this gift of teaching and preaching and the people here are always so kind and encouraging.

Cidade Colina Update

As a reminder Cidade Colina in Pamela was fully placed under national leadership in May.

Please pray that

1) The national leaders will continue to prioritize evangelism and outreach as the primary means of church growth.

2) David’s workload has decreased to some extent. Please pray for our patience as we wait on the Lord for our next area of focus.

We plan to be back in the States in June. We will need roughly a month to sort ourselves out and see family we haven’t seen in nearly five years.

Please email david@wearsportugal.com with the subject “Furlough 26” with dates that work best to visit your church. We are also looking for housing while we are in the States. Let us know if you can help.

We were short by about $800/mo in Q3. We always appreciate anything folks choose to give.
