RENOVATIONS
Espresso Update: Q3—2024
Building Renovation
Over the past few months, we’ve been hard at work preparing the building for its official opening. This has involved many behind-the-scenes efforts, with wonderful collaboration among Portuguese, Brazilians, and Americans. Together, we’ve been turning on electricity and water, tearing down walls, rebuilding, and, of course, doing lots of cleaning! Each of us has contributed in unique ways, and it’s been a powerful reminder of what ministry truly is—renovating and restoring the broken image of God in people so they can reflect His glory to the world.
Soul Renovation
Just as every renovation project is unique, so is every person. No two individuals are the same, not even our own children. Each person requires a unique approach, and we’ve been mindful of that in our ministry. Recently, we’ve been using the Psalms as a tool. We print out a single verse from a Psalm and hand it out to individuals. These short verses allow us to quickly see if people are engaging with God’s Word—and, encouragingly, they are!
Services Renovation
We’re now preparing for our inaugural services, scheduled for November 21-24. These special days will include evangelistic meetings and our first official Sunday service. We deeply appreciate your prayers as we approach these important milestones in our ministry.
ESL Renovation
As many of you know, we’ve been using ESL (English as a Second Language) to connect with people and minister to them. In the past, we arranged meetings around individual schedules, but this became challenging as we had to constantly rearrange our own. To create a more sustainable model, we’re introducing a new structure. We’ll hold a midweek instruction class, followed by a special program on Friday nights called “Culto Americano” (American Church). This will include 15 minutes of singing, 15 minutes of preaching, and 15 minutes of fellowship and discussion—all in English. We’re excited about this new format and believe it will foster even greater engagement and spiritual growth.
Family Updates
On a personal note, we’re grateful to share that our family is in good health. The kids are excited about the new school year, which is already underway. However, we are facing an increase in our monthly health insurance premiums—an additional $100 per month—along with a moderate rise in our children’s school fees. We trust in God’s provision and appreciate your prayers as we navigate these changes.
